time machine

august 2004. Nobska Light. Cape Cod. It was raining and, as usual, I couldn't sleep. I went for a drive. Earlier in the day, only slightly lost, I had driven by the light and had subconsciously made a note of its location (on the land side of Wood's Hole). No SLR (this was shot with a Canon point-and-shoot) - no tripod: the camera was held firmly into a small pile of receipts on a fence for stability. No clue (I spent the first while unknowingly shooting in video mode, so I was a little perplexed when my replay kept flashing on and off).
A woman spent a long time on the beach side of the road, coaxing a languid melody from a simple recorder - it was beautiful and the most relaxing rain shoot I've ever done. I wish I'd gotten her name: I would have liked to share this picture with her.
